An industry in pain
Bringing hardware to market in North America is broken. Engineers face crippling delays because they can't get production quality parts fast enough. To get around this, well-funded companies burn tens of millions standing up internal manufacturing capacity for prototyping, only to send engineers overseas by the planeload when it comes time to scale up production. Meanwhile everyone else who tries to be scrappy is left behind.
Our story
At finalREV we know this all too well. I saw it first hand running my San Francisco-based high precision, quick-turn machine shop. I worked with many engineers who were desperate for good parts fast. Later, when I stood up in-house manufacturing at Neuralink and Atomic Machines the same problems persisted. Different logos, same bottleneck. Engineers were ready. The parts weren't.
My co-founder Devon faced the same problem from a different angle. Like so many other hardware engineers, he'd spent thousands of hours video calling far away timezones and sitting on planes when it was time to move past the prototyping stage. Apple has phenominal resources, but many vendors are far away. Same-day is often just not an option.
Whether you're a scrappy hardware startup or among the magnificent 7, the same underlying problem remains - you can't get good parts fast. finalREV was founded to help you iterate at the speed of software by making it easy to send your designs, get immediate feedback, view behind the curtain and into our shop and track progress, and gets parts delivered fast - all as if were were your own shop.
A path forward
Traditional machine shops run on decades old systems and highly labor-intensive processes that create friction at every step. Our mission is to build software first, vertically integrated factories to meet the demands of the next generation of engineers - you.
